Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. James L. Koewler, Jr. is the Founder Partner of The Koewler Law Firm, where his main areas of practice include elder law, special needs and Medicaid planning, and Veterans disability. Mr. Koewler is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He works with nurses as care and service coordinators to look after their clients. Mr. Koewler’s motto and focus is on “protecting seniors and people with special needs.” He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Law.

2. Meredith E. Marcus is a Partner at Osterhout Berger Daley, LLC, where she has significant experience in representing claimants from the initial application through appellate courts. Ms. Marcus drafted and argued Biestek v. Berryhill, 139 S. Ct. 1148 (2019) in the Sixth Circuit, before overseeing litigation in the United States Supreme Court. She has also represented clients in the areas of ERISA, individual disability benefits, veterans affairs and vaccine injury litigation. She is the editor of the textbook Social Security Disability Law by Tom Bush, 28th Revision. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago Illinois Law School.

3. Jessica Peraza is the Founding Partner at Peraza Law PLLC, where she focuses on estate planning, elder law, guardianship, and probate. She is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and SUNY Buffalo Law School.
